This is where I really have room to spread out. Virtual space is wonderful as it's unlimited. In my house, my yarns and fibers must stay more or less corralled in one room - being packed away into plastic bins and on shelves. My knitted garments and other items are stored in drawers, and the dyepots must be hauled out every time I want to use them.
But here in my cyberstudio, everything is always on view, every time I want to enter. I invite you to come in, too, and see what I have gathered for fun and information. The Studio is where I experiment with dyeing, spinning and knitting fine fibers and soft handspun yarns in all manner of wild and subtle hand-dyed colors.
My fiber of choice is wool and wool blends, although I've begun to experiment with luxury fibers like silk, alpaca and angora. For dyeing, I use different kinds dyes and dyeing methods. At this time, I mainly dye spinnable roving and top in a crock pot. I use several different dyes: acid dyes for bright to subdued shades, KoolAid for an almost-natural dye look, and Easter egg dye for lighthearted pastels. I also like to "play" with blending already dyed fibers with my drum carder or with combs.
Here's what I have. Come take a peek:
Step inside my Studio and see what is here. I have examples of my yarns and rovings. You can also see some of my knitting and find a free pattern for a stashbusting afghan, with variations.
