Rainbow Dyeing in a Crock Pot

Step 1:

After you've weighed your four oz., soak the roving in a solution of cool water in which you've
poured a "glug" of vinegar. The actual amount isn't important, as you'll be adding more vinegar
later in the process.  Soak for about half an hour.

Step 2:

Choose at least four colors. More will make an even more interesting mix.

Step 3:

After you've soaked the roving for half an hour, drain the water away and squeeze the roving gently
(no wringing!) until it's wet but not dripping.  Begin layering it into the crock pot. After your first
layer has covered the bottom of the crock pot, sprinkle on some of the powdered dye. Kool-Aid is
not toxic, but if you use an acid dye, this is when it's the most dangerous.
Be careful not to breathe the powder - wear a filter if necessary.

Step 4:

Keep layering roving and sprinkle on dye, distributing the color in different places on different layers.
