Dyeing Animal Fiber in a Crock Pot

Last Steps - a Review and Finishing

After your fibers have "cooked" for 3 hours, let them cool so you can handle them:

Here's what they look like when they're "done":

Rinsing

In water the same temperature as the wool, rinse the dyed fibers until the water runs clear.
Being careful not to wring or agitate the fiber, squeeze as much water as possible from it.

Drying

If you have a separate spin cycle on your washer, this will get lots of water from your fiber.
Be sure you watch, though, to make sure the washer doesn't start filling again and
agitating!  You'll get a wonderfully colored felt rope, for sure.

Hang the damp rovings to air dry - aren't they pretty?
